Biomass Day

On Friday 27/01/2023 a conference was organized on the subject: BIOMASS DAY. The Role of Bioenergy in the Energy Crisis. Its aim was to approach the role and contribution of Bioenergy as an active sector of the Bioeconomy in dealing with the Energy Crisis in a constantly changing international environment.

The conference considered to what extent it would be possible, within the challenging economic environment formed since the war in Ukraine, for Greece and the EU to better utilize biomass in order to lighten the heavy financial burden of energy for industries, businesses, services and households. Bioeconomy and Environment Cluster of Western Macedonia (CluBE) were represented by Dr. Georgios Martinidis, Co-Head of the Bioeconomy Sector of CluBE, that presented: "The Bioeconomy in Tackling the Energy Crisis: examples of applications of research projects from Western Macedonia". Dr. Martinidis gave a summary of past and current research projects implemented by CluBE, which focus on the more efficient and wider utilization of bioenergy, as well as bioeconomy in general. His presentation mentioned, among others, the projects: aGROWchain, BIOMODEL4REGIONS, CEE2ACT, BIOTRANSFORM, and MarginUp!
