BIOTRANSFORM, in collaboration with SUSTRACK, ROBIN, and BIOMODEL4REGIONS, has developed a set of joint policy recommendations to support the transition of European regions from a linear to a circular bioeconomy (CBE). These recommendations aim to guide both EU and national-level decision-makers in shaping policies that enable sustainable, circular, and bio-based regional development.
Drawing on research and insights from pilot regions involved in these projects, the recommendations identify key challenges and opportunities in implementing circular bioeconomy practices. They focus on practical policy tools—regulatory measures, economic instruments, and technical support—that can accelerate the uptake of circular bioeconomy models.
The recommendations are structured around four thematic pillars:
- Data for Decisions
- Financing and Business Opportunities
- Governance
- Knowledge Sharing and Education
